A chance encounter
One simple act is all it takes to change someone day in a way you may not know you did. Whether it be a simple smile, or hello, holding the door for someone, giving a complement to someone, or any other small gesture. For me this came when I was leaving therapy, when a random stranger smiled and said hi. This was not required as I did not the person and will probably never have another interaction with them again. It was a chance encounter that end is a positive way. This simple act brightened my day. But after this chance meeting when I was exiting therapy, I now hope to see this person again, so I return the kind gesture and be the first to smile and say hello. This opportunity gave me a chance to over think the event because I had closed the door not realizing she was going into the building. Without growth I would have lingered on this small fact, but I didn’t I told myself you didn’t know she was going in and she realizes that. Because had I know she was going in I would have held the door. Also going make to my day of bullying by my former friends whenever I had an interaction, I could have had the fear of judgement. But I didn’t have the thought of what if the girl thought me smiling back and saying hello would be perceived as flirting. This kind gesture gave me a preview of how I wish most of my future interactions would go. Always remember one small act can move mountains and have a huge positive impact on someone else’s day. Had I been having an absolute rotten day; this kind gesture would have brought sunshine to my day in an even bigger way. I have truly hit rock bottom in my life, and the interaction with this female gave me a glimmer in how I want to take back my life and become a better person through all the pain and struggles I am battling today. I pray for good thing for this female and hope to have many more chance encounters to brighten my day.
To the random brunette that brightened my day I say thank you and hope to have many more interactions with you. You are an amazing, kind person and truly brighten and made my day.
